Oswald Legal Lawyers was founded to address the fact that the billing system used by other firms creates a situation where, although clients were told of how they would be charged, the final amount was not known until after the matter had been concluded. This can lead to situations where, although one problem had been resolved, another may be created through the difficulty in paying large legal bills.
At Oswald Legal Lawyers this problem is alleviated by providing our clients with an up-front fixed price quotation for most matters. This means that after an initial consultation, our clients are informed of what the total amount will be for our services. This fee includes all work done by our lawyers in relation to the matter with the exclusion of fees and charges levied by third parties. Curtis Ward - LL.B, Grad. Dip. Legal Practice - LawyerCurtis initially began working at Oswald Legal Lawyers on secondment in December 2015 and January 2016. He subsequently joined the team on a full-time basis in April 2016 and is experienced in civil matters. Curtis completed his Bachelor of Laws at Edith Cowan University and his Graduate Diploma in Legal Studies at the College of Law. He was admitted to practice as a lawyer in September 2013. In February 2013, Curtis first started as a volunteer paralegal where he was subsequently employed as a solicitor, at the Consumer Credit Legal Service (WA), a community legal centre practising in the areas of banking and finance disputes, credit reporting, personal property securities and consumer law matters. Curtis is also a member of the Law Society’s Young Lawyers Committee, which he sits on as the leader of the Human Rights and Social Justice Focus Group. Curtis’ work in this role includes being the lead drafter on the Law Societies submissions on expunging historical homosexual convictions and assisting with submissions on Aboriginal incarceration and justice reinvestment. Curtis has also organised a number of human rights and social justice based events, including the 2015 Social Justice Opportunities Evening and the 2016 Law Week Panel Discussion. Michelle Corbett - Operations ManagerBefore joining the Oswald Legal team, Michelle was the Administration Officer of the Joondalup Business Association. Michelle arrived in Perth from the UK in February 2009. In the UK, Michelle managed a team of 26 typists for a leading UK corporation of Chartered Surveyors. Katlyn Madgwick - Legal AssistantKatlyn is our vibrant Assistant Manager who joined Oswald Legal Lawyers in October 2013. In 2012, Katlyn graduated High School achieving her Certificate I and II in Business and a partial Certificate II in Media Studies.
